The thriving 5G network has driven massive demand for 5G optical transceivers that are widely applied in four main scenarios: fiber direct connection, passive WDM, semi-active WDM and active WDM.

5G fiber direct connection is the primary short-term solution for 5G deployment due to its low latency and ease of deployment.
The passive WDM application scenario primarily encompasses point-to-point passive WDM and WDM-PON, leveraging a single fiber or a pair to interconnect multiple AAUs and DUs, thereby significantly conserving optical fiber resources.
The active WDM application scenario typically uses 10G or 25G short-range grey optical transceivers between AAU/DU and WDM/OTN/SPN devices.
The semi-active WDM application combines the above passive WDM and active WDM solutions. On the DU side, active WDM/OTN/SPN devices are used, while passive WDM devices are used on the AAU side.
